Reporting to the Director, E-Commerce and Digital Marketing, the Manager, Digital Communications will work on developing and managing Birks Group’s online branding and presence, as well as developing and managing search, email marketing and paid & organic social media campaigns to drive traffic and sales on the e-commerce channel and in brick-and-mortar stores.

The Manager, Digital Communications:

      • Creates comprehensive digital marketing strategies (in collaboration with the Director, E-Commerce and Digital Marketing, as well as external agency), leveraging a strategic mix of paid search, display, social media advertising and online ad buy to help improve digital traffic and positively influence online as well as brick-and-mortar sales.
      • Plans, creates and distributes the Birks e-newsletter, working in collaboration with the CRM Analyst on targeting opportunities
      • Collaborates with third party vendors to leverage coop presence on Birks’ digital platforms.
      • Collaborates with the Director, Branding on translating the brand image across all digital platforms and coordinates creative assets needed for online campaigns
      • Implements a variety of forms of online marketing initiatives to promote brand recognition and promotions and to drive traffic to the company's website and stores.
      • Conducts regular reporting on digital marketing channels and expresses recommendations to optimize campaigns based on the best-performing strategies
      • Plans social media content and maintains the content calendar ensuring social media content is regular, relevant and engaging, and supports overall growth and engagement strategy
      • Collaborates with influencers and vendors (content providers, agencies, etc.) to develop content (images, videos, etc.) for social media platforms
      • May write engaging copy for use on digital platforms
      • Engages with fans and followers on social media to build relationships with the community, encourage engagement and grow following
      • Liaises with internal stakeholders to relay customer inquiries and feedback gained from online conversations within the community
      • Collaborates with Senior PR Manager to leverage existing media and influencer relationships on social media platforms
      • Develop initiatives with online influencers to promote the Birks and Mayors brand and grow social media following
      • Develop engagement strategies to both maintain existing following and attract new following (i.e. contests/giveaways, etc.)
      • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends and make appropriate recommendations to incorporate them in overall digital communication strategy
      • Monitors the success of the community and of social media in terms of the overall marketing strategy





Our ideal candidate has:


  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing or E-Commerce, or similar

  • 5-6 years experience in Marketing: Digital and/or web retail  

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (English, French)

  • Must have a cutting edge interest in social media and be abreast with the fast-changing nature of social media and ensuring that new opportunities for engaging with customers are realized

  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media platforms

  • Knowledge of Hootsuite, Iconosquare and other social media tools

  • Creativity

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills

  • Strong understanding of SEO and SEM

  • Excellent team player with ability to work in collaboration with different departments

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadline

  • Passion for online and media-rich, audio-visual products and new technologies
